New Mexico Council of Teachers of English Annual Conference for 2006 will be held in Farmington on October 13-14 at the San Juan College Conference Facility. The theme is BEYOND THE STANDARDS: LANGUAGE ARTS FOR LIFE. Here's how the conference flier describes it: "For the past few years, much of our focus has been on curriculum standards and benchmarks.At the same time we know that many aspects of the language arts can't be easily standardized or tested. This year's conference is about how we teach our students to make reading, writing, speaking, and listening a rich part of their daily lives."
